Welcome to Knaphill Lower School

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make. You will want to be assured that your child will reach its full potential in a happy, caring and nurturing environment which develops high self esteem in each child.

We have high expectations and are committed to providing a wide, challenging and balanced education which meets the needs of each child. Our staff are enthusiastic and dedicated to providing the very best standards in teaching and learning.

We value the opportunity to welcome you to our school. We are confident that you will find here, a community where standards of behaviour and respect for others are given high priority, and an environment where children are motivated, happy and eager to learn.

Knaphill Lower School was in February 2007 inspected by OFSTED and awarded the Grade of OUTSTANDING in every educational element:- achievement and standards, personal development and well being, teaching and learning, curriculum and other activities, care, guidance and support and leadership and management. It was, also, an accolade to be proposed, recently, for the project - Sustaining Success, Leading Edge School Development. Under the Department of Education and Skills we will progress the "Every Child Matters Agenda" and share the outcomes with other schools.

We look forward to welcoming your child and yourselves to our school and community.

Angela Kalfayan, Headteacher

    Ofsted

We are delighted to be able to announce that following the OFSTED inspection on 26 February 2007 Knaphill Lower School was awarded the Grade of OUTSTANDING in every educational element. Please realise that you can't get higher than this! You can read the full report by clicking here. The Inspector also commented on the excellent behaviour of our children in a school that places the child at the centre of everything.

    Shopping and Surfing!

The PTA has registered with an online shopping portal called easyfundraising.org.uk This will provide a welcome boost to PTA funds but the size of the boost depends on how many of us use the portal. It is completely free to use. Once at the site online you'll need to register as a user, select the cause you're supporting (Knaphill Schools PTA) and then login to start shopping. Choose from over 500 retailers of the UK's best-known retailers including many popular names such as NEXT, Amazon, Debenhams, John Lewis and HMV, and when you shop using the links on the site up to 15% from every purchase you make is donated to the cause you've selected. (NOTE: there are some important suggestions on the site regarding Norton Internet Security and Browser setting) - so please register to buy online with easyfundraising and pass on the message to grandparents and friends!

As an added bonus the same site can give you access to a search engine powered by Yahoo! Every search which is linked to our cause will generate a donation to the PTA in a similar way to the shopping portal. We're yet to receive notification of the web address for this site but we'll let you as soon as we do!

    Knaphill in the news

Click here to read all the good things that have been said recently about the school in the local newspapers.

    Eco-School

Click here to find out about all the things we do to make our school eco-friendly, including our Woodland Enclave initiative.

    Generation Green

We sent out a letter recently to all parents about a new ECO initiative (see General Correspondence link below). Our school need to earn 34,473 'leaves' to exchange for eco rewards! These include a choice of solar panels, wind turbines, etc. Children can earn 'leaves' by playing the eco games, and parents, carers and adults can help too by completing the online energy report, helping you to find out how energy efficient your home is. There is also advice on how to improve your energy efficiency.

Special visitors regularly come to the school; our children participate in cultural, sporting and educational events outside school; we celebrate many special occasions. Click here to see what we've done recently.
