LOCATION AND FACILITIES
Note: this is extracted from the School Prospectus - click on the link on the left for the full text. Knaphill Lower School is approached by a tree lined driveway and is situated on a large site with plenty of asphalted and grassed playing areas. A Woodland Enclave with separated pond dipping area, has been established for children to experience awe and wonder, to learn to be enterprising and socialise and for the learning journey to continue outside the classroom in a safe and healthy environment. There is also a Trim Trail, which offers scope for the development of a wealth of learning opportunities. A Sensory Garden has also been created in the grounds, with decking, water feature, seating, trees and plants to enhance sensory awareness for learning. Parent funding has gone towards expanding the library with further quality fiction and non-fiction books. Government funding together with funds raised has been used to create an ICT Suite and install Interactive Whiteboards in classrooms with a range of software to enhance learning and teaching. Interactive daily RM Maths software and RM Literacy Successmaker software is used across the school, to further the knowledge and skills of each individual child. We have also created a Reggio Room where children are encouraged to grow in independence and experiment. The room is open ended, making space for experimentation. |
