Lunchtime at Knaphill Lower School 2016
It is with great pleasure to report that the children continue at Knaphill Lower School to really enjoy their convivial lunchtime. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 under the Universal Infant Free School Meals are entitled to a school hot lunch cooked in our kitchen and served by our Lunchtime Supervisory Staff. The Children listen, interact and share in conversation with their friends, whilst enjoying their lunches. Table leaders enjoy managing their table, leading conversation and pouring water into their friend’s glasses.
Knaphill Lower School retains the Silver Food for Life Grade Menu, whereby our meat is organic, vegetables are seasonal and both are sourced locally.
Lunch Supervisors work closely as a team to bring about efficiency and harmony. Teaching staff join the children over the week to work alongside the supervisory staff to instil good manners and etiquette.
Children enjoy sitting around round tables dressed with table cloths, using cutlery or china crockery for their various courses, drinking from glassware and being able to use napkins, as necessary. On completion of their lunch children are able to spend a short time in the outside Terraza, before returning to their social play areas.
Each Friday, during the school academic year over a rolling programme, parents are invited to Celebration lunch. Children chosen for special merit during that week sit alongside invited guests on the ‘High Table’!
